Newcastle United are paying Burnley about 25 times what Leicester paid for Chris Wood nine years ago - and about eight times what Leicester received from Leeds two years later.
But Troy Deeney, a pundit these days for The Sun, reckons no one should sneer at the price tag as oil rich Newcastle try to stay in the Premier League.
Wood, aged 30, is expected to make his debut against Deeney's old side Watford today tasked with helping close the two-point gap between the two clubs; Newcastle in 19th and Watford above the safety line in 17th.
It is that tight - and all clubs know the difference between finishing 20th and 21st in the English football pyramid is worth at least £100m.
And that promotion squad really wasn't bad, was it?
